can we talk about the ups strike can we PLEASE talk about the ups strike
i know since writers and actors are already striking thats gonna take up most of the news space on social media but like. ups has until july 31st to meet the teamster’s demands and if not then theyre going on the biggest strike against a single corporation since the early 1900s. the uaw (auto manufacturers union) contract is up this fall, and i believe the alu (amazon labor union) is as well. there’s a huge possibility that they might strike as well, depending on how long the ups strike lasts.
im seeing a lot of talk about hollywood going down but i want to see more talk about labor rights and working class solidarity across the board… like A Lot of shit is about to go down
we’re about to see a lot more propaganda by more than just hollywood, we’re about to see a lot of bullshit political moves on local, state, and federal levels. dont fall for it. workers have power.
its not even like any economic damage is guaranteed, UPS can stop the strike whenever they want. By paying them properly
Do you seek out/enjoy book reviews and recommendations?
Yes it’s regularly apart of my reading routine
Occasionally I check the reviews on a book I’m interested in
Sometimes I consume reviews as entertainment
I like to see the opinions of certain people
I don’t seek them out often
I’m not interested in the opinions of other people
I never read reviews
“#he would say this”, no he wouldn’t, his writers are on strike
“#he would do this”, no he wouldn’t, his actor is on strike
also like, multiple nontransphobic detransitioners have literally said the exact same stuff i’ve said: that there will never be zero detransitioners, that there need to be more resources for detransitioners and less stigma around detransition, and that the trans community needs to be more supportive of detransitioners. this is not some transmed fallacy this is literally what detransitioners are asking for.
In addition to this there should be less stigma around exploring gender entirely. The understanding that gender can shift and change and that that isn’t a bad thing, that for a lot of people being a certain gender isn’t permanent and that there isn’t anything wrong with that. The things that make people scared to detransition are the same that make them afraid to transition in the first place, a fear of permanent change and gender nonconformity, a fear of not having a place in society.
“Stop saying 15 year olds with weird interests are cringe, they’re 15” this is true however you should also stop saying adults with weird interests are cringe because who gives a shit
To wit:
I want to share some wisdom from my high school art teacher.
In my AP Art class, there was a girl who was just starting to experiment with mixed media. At this point she was still playing around, trying to decide what direction she wanted to go with her portfolio. So one critique day, she brought in an abstract canvas with some rhinestone highlights and painted and real peacock feathers. She loved sparkles and peacock feathers so she thought she’d try introducing them a *little*. And after everyone had given some input, the teacher gave her his advice, VERY roughly paraphrased here:
“So here’s the thing… I do not like this style. These are just elements that do not speak to me personally, but I see that you like them, and you’re doing interesting things with them.
“My biggest critique is, I only merely *dislike* this piece. I want you to make me HATE it. Go crazy with the things that you like. Don’t hold back trying to make it palatable to people like me. Because I am NEVER going to like it. And if the audience does not like it, it should drive them crazy seeing how much YOU love it.”
Her portfolio was chock full of neon colors and glitter and rhinestones and splashes of peacock feathers and it was a delight. Our teacher despised every piece lol, but she got great marks and I think even won some awards. And more importantly, she was happy and proud of the results. Because she didn’t limit herself by trying to appeal to people who were never going to enjoy what she enjoyed.
Takeaway here: be as cringe as you want. Don’t limit yourself based on other ppl’s tastes. They’re not you, and you are incredible 💕

I’m not trying to turn your kids trans; that’s stupid. I’m trying to turn them into socialists.
#for real tho! their gender is their business but class struggle is everyone’s business
discovered an intriguing network of pornbots which appear to be repeatedly reblogging this picture of butter between themselves
I love all of these
